fanfic100 challenge. He’s a strange one, her new captain... constantly stuttering and stumbling and sloshing rum across her decks. His eyes, though -- they are uncannily aware, as if trying to identify something only he can see. He always takes the morning watch. In those dark hours just before the dawn, when the ship is quiet save for the rush of water against her hull, and the breath of wind in her sails, he murmurs to her about the places they will travel, the wonders they will see. He is the only person who seems to know she exists. The idea terrifies her.
